The raison d’etre of this piece is to “let the wood do the talking.” The visual masses are arranged in a pleasing way. The design is simple, with wide panels of bookmatched figured oak.

All the curly red oak on this piece was cut from the same log. The drawer sides and bottoms are purpleheart, which is a nice contrast with the tawny oak hues of the fronts, and adds a little excitement when you open the drawers. (See photo #2)

The two top cases have glass shelves; the bottom case, next to the drawers, has oak shelves.

The drawers are hand-dovetailed. The doors and cabinet backs are mortised and tenoned. The cases are doweled.

The satin-sheen finish is hand sanded and waxed.
