This beautiful mirror is hand crafted from Spalted Maple that was rescued from a fallen tree. Because Spalted Maple is consistently inconsistent in appearance it is in high demand. Each piece is unique and very different from the next piece.

As wood decomposes it picks up mineral deposits from the forest floor, these are the dark lines on the mirror. When the wood is dried it can be used to make very stunning work providing a lot of visual interest. To allow the natural beauty to show through the artist used a clear hand rubbed finish.
